The People's Republic of Botago has been an English Empire's protectorate until the end of World War II. After the UK Army left the country in 1945, a socialist government was set up, leaded by the Botago's Socialist Party. In 1964, after a coup d'état, the Botago Army took the power, and the socialist government was been replaced by General Arthur W. Manson, who started a psychotic dictatorship. During the 1970s and the 1980s, a revolutionary force called Botago's Communists killed some important officers of the Army and in 1987, with another coup d'état, General Manson was exiled. After, a cruel and bloody civil war between the Botago Communists and the Republican Army (Manson's supporters) split the country, causing a great number of dead and economic collapse. Finally, in 1999, after an UN operation, the war ended with the victory of the Communists. In 2006 elections, the Communists have been replaced by the People's For Botago, an open-mind left-wing party that now leads the country with the support of left-wing and centrist parties.
