Anyone have an opinion about the current vote in the WA? (2009/11/27) I think the Liberate Democratia shouldn't be allowed to win back their password rights on a vote.
War is part of the game, and for us to interefere in the internal mechanisms of a nation is not right...I urge you all to vote against this motion.
But that is also part of the game, is it not? How can we reverse the result of a war using a vote. It just doesn't sit well with me. Don't get me wrong, taking the nation by force sucks, but it is within the game. Now if it was done via hacking or some other nefarious method, that would be a problem...but it was an attack that succeeded...
It just goes to show how important TITO is in this game...
Can anyone else understand or agree with my position? I feel really strongly about this....
Isn't that like the UN saying, please make sure you leave this country, and when you go, could you make sure the beds are unmade?
I really do think that the flip side to the posture of 10000 Islands posture of defending nations, is attacking nations. If this doesn't occur, we don't have a place in this game, right?
If a nation has failed to defend itself the first time round, why should it be given a second chance to do so, survival of the fittest... Perhaps their members didn't care about being attacked? Perhaps they had no internal organisation? Perhaps the attacking force was better organised? Who are we to intervene in their internal affairs by passing a resolution, which will only garner support from people who only see this game in-terms of black and white....attacking is evil....etc....
Does anyone have an opinion they can express in the form of a counter argument, that will make sense to me? Or can some one at least agree with my logic on this one???

How do you know natives don't care? Judging from the posts Exilia and Colonies made, and his own vote for the Liberate Democratia resolution, he does care.

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Invading is legal in NationStates, but that does not make it right.
Bullying the weak and defenseless, and attacking regions that did nothing to deserve a whole-sale destruction of their community does not sit well with me.
I agree with Grub, password protecting regions is part of the game and just recently Liberation proposals are a part of the game. The way I see it is the invaders have paswords and defenders have the WA.

Yeah it's a tricky situation. People do tend to see the invading force as "evil" but have you seen the name of the invaders? They are called "The Axis of Evil" and blatanly declare that their nukes have destroyed the landscape. They were only doing this to show how they can bully people around because they are a large force. I originally voted against the resolution because I didn't think that that kind of authority should be given to the WA to interfere with internal affairs but someone pointed out to me that it wasn't really an "internal affair" but really one that could affect any reigion. Even the 10000 Islands.
