Observing the efforts of Sedgistan, as a long time member and current Arch Chancellor of the Founderless Region Alliance (FRA) to ensure interregional peace and goodwill,
Remembering the liberation of Feudal Japan authored by Sedge, which was followed by a defeat of the raiders by a defender force led by Sedge and including members from the FRA, TITO, Equilism, Texas, Europeia, 00000 A World Power, Yggdrasil, The United Kingdom, Crusaders of Justice, Liberty Alliance, Antarctica, and Royal Federation of Nations, and a refounding mission assisted by Sedge,
Impressed by the tireless work of Sedgistan to ensure the natives of Feudal Japan regained control of their region and kept control permanently,
Knowing there exist countless other regions Sedgistan has defended from the grips of raiders, amassing 222 points so far in his 3 years as an FRA Ranger, the second highest of all time,
Acknowledging the Security Council work of Sedgistan other than Liberate Feudal Japan, which includes authoring Liberate Free Thought, being listed as a co-author of Commend Todd McCloud, Liberate Utopia, and Liberate Land of the Liberals,
Asserting that any nation that has done as much work as Sedgistan has to ensure interregional peace and goodwill should be commended,
I've had good working relations with Sedge, since I returned to Nationstates, so I voted yes. He's one of the more active defenders on the official forum and is generally doing a good job.

I voted yes, though I wished someone would recognize the fact that there are a lot of other defenders who defended longer and contributed more than Sedge. Grub, Sir Lans, NewTexas, for example, or about half of our TITO Knights. Even in FRA, Petal/Neas probably has more missions under his belt.

True. But for a commendation to have a chance at getting through you need the recipient to be somewhat high profile and I can't really think of very many defenders with a high profile outside defender circles at the moment. People like Sedge and possible Naivetry or Grub is the exception imo.

Voting aye. On that note, maybe we should encourage some of our members to be active in the Security Council? It would be nice if people from here had a more active role in determining what gets put to vote, etc.

I try very hard to remain low profile... not saying I'd turn down a commendation, but, you know.

In total agreement...but in light of this statement:
co-author of Commend Todd McCloud
and this statement:
amassing 222 points so far in his 3 years as an FRA Ranger
The FRA point system is not an accurate depiction of actual missions participated in because there are a few things that dictate 2 points for a mission EG - defending member regions, being defender lead etc...
I am the lone NO

It's possible... Sedge was not able to make update for most of his defender career... so many of his points are just moving in during the day for support. But because of his extensive involvement on the NS forum and being very involved in security council things I think he is known by more people on NS in general. I don't know if he is the most worthy recipient of a commendation... but I think he is worthy of one.
Former Minister of Education and founder of the 10KI Investment Corporation
Please don't get me wrong Neas - I do like Sedge and IMO think he's a great defender....I'm just not that fond of the use of FRA *points in the writing of the resolution, nor the helping author *anything that helps to commend an invader/region destroyer, AKA Todd McCloud.
Though Sedge may deserve a commendation for his work in the SC - I think the resolution should be re-written to emphasize that point...and leave the Todd McCloud part out.
