I was wondering about the future of the debate hall, and that got me thinking: Should certain current events of both an international flair (The Israeli flotilla raid) and domestic (USA) perspective (The BP oil spill) be included in our debates? This poll will lock in one week, and we'll see where we go from there

Issues are only domestic or international depending on where you live. So those terms are probably a poor choice here in 10000 Islands since we are a global region. An issue should be put up for debate if it can be educational (remember, this is a university) to everyone or certainly most people.
An umpire blowing a call and costing a pitcher a perfect game may certainly appeal to some here in the USA but it probably doesn't even hit the radar screens of players in Europe. On the other hand, if a piece of legislation from the Jamaican Parliament (or whatever they have there) could spark an informative debate for everyone. Then by all means bring it up.
I don't always know a whole lot about USA issues. If it were overall USA then it would make sense to me but if it was more state to state it would be less interesting.
