Constitutional ammendment proposal

In accordance with article 6.1 of the Constitution, the Federation of Odracir brings this proposal to the attention of the citizen nations of the 10000 Islands. We need 10 written endorsements here in order for it to go to the Senate. Our proposal:

No nation shall post any information originally posted on a password protected forum on a non-password protected forum or the regional message board, unless the Council of Nine decides to release the information. Furthermore, any nation that does so is subject to automatic ejection by the Founder or the Delegate for a period of two weeks.

The Constitution states in article 6.1 that a proposal needs 10 written endorsements before it can be proposed to the Senate. That is why I posted it here not there.

I'm not anticipating. But I think it would be a good security measure to take.

I am all for it. The purpose of a password-protected forum is the fact that you need a password to read what is said. If someone discloses information being discussed in the password-protected forums, why do we even have confidentiality? You have my vote, Odracir

Could you add a line such as, "Unless the Council of Nine agreed to release the information?" Otherwise, we might be nailed when it was safe to discuss whatever issue it was.

This, in any way, wouldn't restrict nations to discuss things happening on non-password protected forums like '10000 Islands', would it? I'm certain it wouldn't but I would just like to clear it up just in case.

I am really glad we are grappling with this.

OTOH, I'm not sure that this rises to the level of a constitutional amendment. I hope we will resist amending the fundamental law every time we have a good idea. (Shades of RL...)

This does suggest that it is a good proposal for a first item in statutory law, such as should be considered and approved by the CON (in accordance with Constitution para 3.3.).

Well, even if it is just a statute, I think it is an essential law to pass for our region. We wouldn't want someone like The Northern Isles pulling something funny when they decide they don't like our region anymore or something.

Alas, no law is going to prevent that kind of thing--it simply gives an agreed format for responding to the offense. Wish laws could prevent dorkitude--wouldn't that be a great world?!

lol. I guess it does have a fatal flaw, people are going to pull stuff like that no matter what. But, nonetheless, it would be a good statute to have.

The Commonwealth of Naoi is honored to be the 10th necessary vote. I would like to see this resolution passed, but I think that the security would be quite easy to bypass anyway. After this resolution, I think we should work on a screening process of sorts so that not just anyone can obtain password-protected information.

Remember that the action here has endorsed the proposed amendment to submit it to the Senate.

The Senate will conduct a poll for one week on the beliefs of the citizens about this issue. Watch for that in the near future.

It will be the final action of the Senate to determine the result of the amendment.

I see this possible amendment as a good thing for 10000 Islands. While I do worry that it may complicate things and that simple matters could find themselves tangled in a web of bureaucracy, I conclude that this will strengthen the security and safety of our region. However, like some others, I question whether this really needs to be an amendment other than a statute.

Whether through amendment or statute, I do believe this proposal would benefit 10000 Islands.
