People had seven whole days to post their intent, and the elections are marked on the calendar a year in advance. I wouldn't vote for someone who:
1. Doesn't expect scheduled events to actually happen. 2. Can't make a decision within a whole week. 3. Can't find the time to make a single one-sentence post within said week's span.
Not trying to justify running unopposed, let me tell you I'm one of the biggest advocates against it. I've run for positions before just to ensure competition, with no real intent of actually winning the seat. I'd welcome a little sport, ask anyone.
That said, the rules are the rules. Everyone had the same chance to speak up.

I agree with AI; there were plenty of chances for people to announce - and if they didn't, then he gets to run unopposed. Same as in many real world elections.
I think we should wait for another candidate because Ad Infinitum is running unopposed.
I think people need to log in daily to keep up with current events. If someone misses the filing deadline in real life, they can't be on the ballot, and the election is held on schedule.
