Alright fellas. Welcome to A Fistful of Tacos - The deadliest shootout game this side of Taco Island. You and your fellow islanders compete for the prize, which unfortunately can only be claimed over the dead bodies of your foes. Let me tell you about how this works:
- All of you find yourselves in the town square, your trusted rifles loaded and drawn. The prize is lying right there in the center of the square, ready to be taken.
- The shootout takes place in combat rounds. Each round you may send me a msg with your action. After 36 hours (or when I have all actions whichever comes first) I post the results and open the new combat round.
- Your goal: Get the prize and leave town without being shot. If you have to kill all your opponents, then so be it.
- Your weapon: A break-action dual barreled hunting rifle. One hit will kill an opponent reliably but you only have two shots before you need to reload. Make those count.
- Possible actions during one round of combat:
a) Fire your weapon. If your target isn't in cover, they are dead.
b) Reload. Your weapon has 2 bullets in it again.
c) Dive for Cover. This saves you from any shots being fired at you as long as you stay put. Unfortunately, while in cover you can only reload your weapon or stand up.
d) Stand up. This is an entire action. If someone fires at you in the round you stand up, you die.
e) Move. If you don't have the prize, you move to the town square to get it. When you're standing in the town square with the prize, you move to your horse and ride out of town. If both of these actions succeed without someone shooting you, you win. If you are shot, you die and the prize remains in the town square. You can stay in the town aquare to Fire or Reload but you cannot Dive for Cover. (If two combattants enter town square simultaneously, neither takes the prize. As soon as only one of them remains (because the other one left/died), they automatically take the prize)
- Players are allowed to communicate with messages and replies in the thread as much as they want. They just can't make binding agreements. Threats, insults, coercion and persuasion are OK.
- Players from whom I don't get a message will do nothing. If you are on vacation, you may send me a string of actions in advance.
This game knows four possible ends:
1) Total Victory: One player takes the prize and leaves.
2) Taco Standoff: Only two players are remaining, both have loaded weapons and at least one of them stands in the town square. In this situation they could (sensibly) just shoot each other. Instead they split the prize 50/50 and leave.
3) The Cavalry: If after twelve rounds nobody has left the city with the prize, the Sheriff of the city returns with backup. Nobody has a chance at the prize anymore and everyone loses.
4) Everyone Dies: In the process of the shootout, everyone is killed. No prize for anyone.
- The prize: 200 from my coffers. Also, sending small donations to the winner yourself is considered good form.
