Good evening and welcome to our newest edition of Inside the Islander's Studio. I'm your host, Isles of Nixon and this week, we sat down with our newest elected member of the Council of Nine, Hoodhat. He came to our region in February 2012 and has been a prolific recruiter, sending in excess of 6,500 telegrams in a recruitment effort. He sat down with us recently to talk about his journey to the region, his time here and his new role as Senator.
IoN: Why run for the Council of Nine?
HH: I actually didn't want to run in this election, I wanted to wait more time before doing it, be a representative of a community as large and respected as this one makes me nervous. It was Echo who sent me a message asking if I wanted to run in this elections and i accepted.
IoN: What do you hope to accomplish in your term?
HH: My main focus will be the people. I intend to help those who want their idea to be heard. A problem that happens with organizations well developed and organized, is that it is difficult try to change something, and why would they do it? everything is fine as is, and what ends up happening is that nobody actually helps because nothing changes the big picture. I want everyone to have the best possible opportunity to make a difference, and I don't want to know if the idea isn't good or that it doesn't fit, everything can be change and everyone deserves a chance. I also want to make sure that everything that is done by the Co9 is done to benefit the people of our region and to help improve it.
IoN: What’s the origin of the Hoodhat name?
HH: Yeah... it was a case of dyslexia, I switched the first w with h and.. i'm just sad right now
IoN: Do you have a favorite aspect of the region? How about favorite islander?
HH: I would say the people, they are so friendly, it's a rare thing to find so many people like that in one place. Hmmm.. favorite islanders, I would say Mark, Mal, and Aerso, they helped me a lot when i needed.
IoN: To spam or not to spam?
HH: To spam of course! I'm like a champion, at the end of my first week here I had like 7.000 post. I must say it was thanks to Boltor 'the king' but he doesn't need to know that.
IoN: What’s the one thing you’d change about the region?
HH: Hmm.. good question, this is a good question. you know what? you make good questions and I'm only in the fifth one. This is just to show how impressionable i am. I could say that would not change anything and that everything is fine as is, but I'd be lying (like a true politician ) if I could change something, I would change the structure of the forum, I think it's very confusing for those coming here for the first time.

IoN: Now let’s peel back the first layer of skin on the onion and talk about the man behind Hoodhat:
IoN: Where/when were you born?
HH: I was born in Portugal, 27 Jul 1991, the best year of all.
IoN: Where do you live currently?
HH: I live with my mother. I already thought about moving, but things here are a bit difficult. Taxes are increasingly high, wages are increasingly low.
IoN: Are you single, dating, married?
HH: No, yes and hell no!
IoN: What is your favorite place to visit?
HH: I don't have one, but me and my friends build a kind of shack, we have tv, ps3, music, we play poker, we do barbecues and parties their, it's really cool.
IoN: What is your ethnic background?
HH: my ethnic background.. right..
IoN: You’re stuck on a desert island (that’s not a member of our illustrious region) and can have one book, one DVD and one compact disc – what would they be?
HH: a book would be 'limit' from frank schätzing, a DVD.. i think War of the Worlds it's good and a CD.. i don't really know.
IoN: Do you have any regrets about anything you’ve done, or perhaps haven’t done, in the past?
HH: If I could, I would have gone to art school.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IoN: And with that, we turn to the final ten questions, borrowed from Bernard Pivot’s Bouillon de culture:
IoN: What is your favorite word?
HH: 'respeito' it means respect.
IoN: What is your least favorite word?
HH: ..... hmmm.... *scratches head*.. hmm... *puts his hand on his chin and adopts a thoughtful expression* honestly never thought about that, i guess i don't have one.
IoN: What turns you on?
HH: Chocolate cakes with chocolate filling and topping. OMG! tastes so good. plus a lot of things that I can not say here.
IoN: What turns you off?
HH: Stupid people.
IoN: What sound or noise do you love?
HH: the voice of my girlfriend when she calls me every morning to wish me a good day and say that she loves me. ❤❤❤❤❤
IoN: What sound or noise do you hate?
HH: the inevitable sound that my alarm clock does every morning to wake me up and steal my dreams.
IoN: What is your favorite curse word?
HH: f**k
IoN: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
HH: probably painter or something related to art.
IoN: What profession would you not like to do?
HH: I have to admit that I thought about this one for half hour.. and i don't.. oh medic.. I do not really fit in the role of one who has to take care of people.
IoN: If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
HH: 'hey! What are you doing where bro? Hi5! *clap* This must be a mistake man, don't worry, I got this. here, take this beer and this two bi-sexual twins and go back home. '
