I'm sure a lot of you have also gotten this message, but apparently I'm not aware of the whole affaire around it. Could anyone explain what was/is going on? Thanks
I write to you under dire circumstances. I had planned on running for UN Delegate, but was prevented from doing so by the founder of our region. The founder has also threatened with expulsion from the region because I have "too many endorsements." It is for these reasons that I invite you to join me and several other friendly nations in a region free from oppression where nations can grow and flourish at their own accord. Please wire my government and tell me if you want to be a part of this new region. I have high hopes that together, we can create a wonderful new region that honors the freedom of all of its members. Live long and prosper friend.
Worship the potato? The idea seemed silly to me. But then I thought, what else is more deserving of worship? It's simple, it comes from the earth, and it can kill you if you disobey it.
It would help to know what nation sent this to you - the 10,000 nations does have a stipulation that anyone with a certain number of endorsements faces expulsion for 24 hours as they threaten the UN deligate's position (this is how some nations come in and take over a region). I suspect (knowing Grub) there have been other issues with this nation OR the nation didn't submit their canidacy on time. Grub cannot make exceptions or our elections wouldn't be fair.
I wire you from the beautiful Rogue Islands Alliance region, where you and your people can be free from the arcane rules of 10,000 Islands! End the oppression and bureaucracy of yesterday and start again! Spread the word about our movement on the message board and tell your friends! Live long and prosper.

Here's the story on Todovostok and his messages. He moved to the 10000 Islands as a completely new nation and then signed into our forums with two different nations. Both of his nations were in the UN, a violation of NationStates and 10000 Islands rules.
When I told him of the problem, he withdrew one of his nations from the UN. I also let him know when I first wrote him that I was going to take his name off the list of candidates because of the multi UN violation. After he dropped the extra UN status he asked to re-join the list. I politely told him no, but encouaged him to try for other positions as his knowledge of the game grew. He wrote back and said that was fine with him.
The next day, Todovostok posted a message on the regional message board asking for endorsements. I telegrammed him referring him to the 10000 Island constitution and told him a bit of how our system is set up. After that he started telegramming people and left.
The bottom line is that Todovostok was in violation of NationStates rules. He was either cheating (which I don't really think he intended to do) or at minimum was ignorant of the very basic rules of the game, making him a security risk to the 10000 Islands.
I was just wondering what these telegrams were all about. Thanks.

Yes, then he started spamming the board with messages about his new region asking if we were tired of being "ignored and oppressed" and such. I told him he was spamming, and he replied with a telegram claiming he was not spamming, just spreading other ideas. I didn't bother telling him that any region-promoting is generally referred to as spamming here, especially, if you post about 5 messages in the course of a minute. The telegram was very polite, though.

Your actions were impeccably correct, Grub, per usual.
Actually I think our rules are quite simple and clear, from what I have seen of other regions. Apart from his spamming, he just needed to slow down and learn his way around. Which I guess probably goes for all of us.

I saw a few posts from him stating that he was no longer in the Delegate race, so we could endorse him without having to worry about it being a threat to our chances to win.
Also, after I telegramed him and asked for his support in the races, he endorsed me and then proceeded to publicly announce a little "Vote for Naoi" ditty on the public forum. He knew he wasn't in the race anymore.
Also...one of his telegrams were asking for my endorsement. At that time, I told him he should check the constitution because there were rules about getting too many endorsements. I explained the entire thing to him. Shortly after, he telegramed me again saying he understood the rule and would keep his eyes open, in case he came close to breaking the rule.
I think he was trying to be sneaky about doing something dirty. He just wasn't sneaky enough.
His posts did get pretty annoying though, didn't they?

They seem to be pretty much anti-us, but also they do not "have any quarrel with [us]." The founder also threatened to discipline anyone who spoke out against the 10000 Islands, even though the two posts earlier talks about "the opression that is 10000 Islands and their fascade they would like to call a *DEMOCRACY*." Misspelled façade, moron.
Wasn't he upset about the fact that we vote on our delegate?
Democracy: Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives.
Delegate: A representative to a conference or convention.
Sounds like we elect our representatives to me. What is a democracy then, if we aren't?

ha I don't know whether I'm glad or offended I didn't get a telegram. I mean, a nation who obviously had some issues with following rules rejected me? I mean, that hurts.
