I have had an episode of lucid dreaming once, that I can remember. In the dream, I had the ability to fly. I was flying over a city, and I suddenly realized that this was impossible. Real people can't just fly. Then, suddenly, I began to fall. Out of nowhere, I thought to myself, maybe I will be able to fly up again. For some reason, I decided that I would be able to fly again if I did the Valsalva maneuver. So I essentially changed the rules of my dream. Everytime I did a Valsalva, I would fly up and stay in the air, and when I released, I would begin to fall. Then, I consciously decided that this dream was exhausting and I needed to end it. So, I flew into the Eiffel tower. I must have been in Paris. Probably.

The cities have fallen and become one; Progress determines existence. Humans have become numbers and fear their drive. Free thought, desire and love are subject to censorship. Millions accept this from the beginning to their end. Will you also go the way presented, or do you belong to those who rise in these modern times?
It's a tricky topic, actually. I've had it a couple of times, but it's always the big question:
While you may be aware that you're dreaming, are you really in complete control of your dream, or is it part of that dream's script for you? After all, there are productions that involve characters that they're aware in plays/movies/shows, and people that are aware they're characters in a book. But they're still bound by the script/text. Stranger than Fiction is a pretty nifty example of this. The main character was aware that he was in a book after some time, but every action of his was still dictated by what the author was writing.

Lucid dreaming is real and occurs during REM sleep, the fifth sleep stage. The body is basically paralyzed, with the exception of the eyelids. The lateral prefrontal cortex, a part of the brain that deals with logic, is responsible. During REM sleep, this part of the brain is supposed to be asleep, but it wakes up so that dreaming and logic are both working at the same time, enabling the dreamer to recognize the dream situation for what it is. The grand idea of lucid dreaming is all about control. In your dream, you can consciously decide to visit a specific place and your dream self will obey the waking mind.

I had a lucid dream once, I told my family it was a dream but they didn't believe me. They laughed and said I was crazy and it turned out that I was right and woke up the next day. However my dream was so real that it seemed like reality. Are we dreaming now?

I had several lucid dreams that I dreamt about my future and to my surprise it actually happened in the real world to me which mirrored exactly like what it was in the dream world weird (one of my lucid dream is about me having a conversation with my English teacher about students being late and this actually happened irl) and btw can anyone reply to this post if you had a similar experience to me.

Well it's hard to say as the order is not in chronological order so I'm not sure.

I only remember once as a kid I became aware I was lucid dreaming. I just became so scared of being stuck in the dream I kept telling myself, if I fell asleep in the dream I would wake up in real life. So I spent the entire lucid dream trying to fall asleep.
According to my psychology professor, lucid dreaming is real and apparently there is a way to induce them. I can't remember the details, but I think it says that when you are just waking up from REM sleep, you need to try to remember the details of the dream you are having then without moving your body at all, and then tell yourself to go back to sleep or something. At least the professor said it was working and said they were good times. Maybe I could look this up...and try it sometime.
