The Progressive Party is a new 10000 Islands political party with a more political platform than other parties.
The goals of The Progressive Party are as follows:
Commitment to Keeping Money out of Politics
We believe on taking a strong stance against the corrosive influence of money in politics. We are in favor of banning corporate campaign donations all together, both indirectly and directly, and setting a limit on how much an individual person can contribute to a political campaign. We believe that this will help us form a government that represents all of it's people, not just the wealthiest.
Commitment to Social Welfare
We believe that a nation has a responsibility to ensure the well being of it's citizens. We support providing easy affordable access to medical care for everyone, providing welfare for the physically and mentally disabled, ensuring that no child has to suffer through malnutrition because of the circumstances they were born into, helping the homeless find ways to support themselves, and providing old age pensions so that retirement is an attainable goal for everyone.
Commitment to Education
We believe that education is a fundamental right of all people, and support efforts to make public higher education free, so that anyone willing to work for it can get an education and better themselves, without having to give up on their academic ambitions due to cost or fall victim to payday lenders to make ends meet.
Commitment to Economic Regulation
We believe in promoting an economic policy of well regulated capitalism, so that the government can protect consumers, make sure that no bank is too big to fail, prevent and prosecute corporate fraud, eliminate tax loopholes, hold corporate executives accountable, keep peoples money safe during bank failures, maintain a stable and prosperous economy, and provide a fair free market environment for all business. However, we are opposed to the nationalization of business, as though we believe in strong regulation, we see the government repossessing businesses people have built as an economic policy as a violation of that person's rights. This should not be interpreted as a stance against business subsidization or small business loans.
Commitment to Labor Rights
We believe that workers have a right to organize and demand fair wages and safe working conditions, and will support legislation that protects labor unions to the fullest extent. We believe in prosecuting corporate executives who violate labor laws by failing to provide safe working conditions, failing to pay minimum wage, and violating laws protecting the rights of workers to organize. Our support of labor is not limited to what is outlined here, we believe in protecting labor rights to the fullest extent possible.
Commitment to Women's Rights
We believe in gender equality in all facets of life, and advocate for equal pay for equal work, passing legislation designed to safeguard women's rights, protecting women's right to choose, and providing women with easy access to contraception.
Commitment to Net Neutrality
We believe that the free exchange of information is essential to maintaining a free society, and are committed to fighting any attempts for any government authority to censor or try to exert control over the internet.
Commitment to Promoting Democracy
We believe that all people have right to self determination, and we should promote democracy wherever possible so that people can choose who governs them and how.
Commitment to Peace and Diplomacy
As the leaders of TITO, we have an incredible responsibility not just to protect nations, but to use force to achieve peace only as a last resort. We believe that in resolving a conflict, we should first attempt to reach a peaceful democratic solution. Should this fail, we should attempt to reach a resolution using the threat of TITO intervention. However, should these attempts at a peaceful resolution fail, we should not hesitate to launch a TITO intervention, as we believe we have a responsibility to protect the rights of people everywhere.
We ask that members who are in the World Assembly consider endorsing party leadership to maximize regional influence. This is not mandatory, just encouraged.
