Hello my fellow Islanders.
It's been two years since I last ran for the Delegacy. A lot has happened since then. I am glad to know that I am not running unopposed this time. Participation in the political process has increased - and that's a great thing.
I will now shamelessly steal my introduction from the last campaign (albeit slightly updated). For those of me who have not had so much interaction with me: I am Louisistan . I have been around these islands since May of 2014. In my time here, I have served as Deputy Senator and Senator for Lyonesse East, TITO Tactical Officer (twice), TITO Executive Officer (also twice) and Delegate. I am the 79th Knight of TITO, currently stand at 140ish Battle Stars and have been decorated with the Bronze Star and several campaign medals. I am also the Head of the House of Louisistan and member of Mayor Shelter Political Party's Party Planning Committee.
What has prompted my decision to run for Delegate again? That's avery valid question considering I've gone on the record saying things like "I'd rather be shot in the head than serve as Delegate again". So what changed? Well, I have taken a step back and looked at what made me say that. Why did I leave office somewhat unhappy about my tenure? It's three reasons:
First, there's the fact that I've left behind unfinished business. I tried to start an outreach initiative to RP regions towards the end of my term, which got nowhere, because the time was too short to implement it. There's also the matter of setting standards of how the COß acts as the region's judiciary. This has been an issue I've had for some time, but I didn't use my term as Delegate to do anything about it.
Second, I felt I had accomplished less than I could have because I was bogged down by routine tasks. The amount of bueraucratic daily business passing through the Delegate's office is, quite frankly, insane. These are things that do provide value to the islands, so they should not be eliminated (e.g. WA polls or editing the Emissary Report). But they don't need to be done by the Delegate.
The third reason I have a bad memory of the Delegacy is "Liberate California". Nothing to be done about that.
So here I am again and I have a plan to tackle the first to reasons this time around. The big picture Delegacy. Focussing the Delegacy on the things that are at the core of the job or are inseperable from the office for gameside reasons. That includes:
* Working on and with the council on legislation to further develop our community.
* Conducting high-level diplomacy with representatives of other regions.
* Driving a foreign policy strategy of outreach and strengthening existing friedships.
* Engaging with the onsite community of 10ki as the representative of our regional government.
* Voting in the WA
* Making sure our region stays safe from harm.
Everything else is up for Delegation. If elected, I will put into office a Foreign Affairs Secretary with wide-ranging authority and responsibility, including (but probably not limited to)
* Running and staffing the Emissary Program, including editing the Emissary Report submitted by the BCN Senator, hiring and firing
* Posting the WA polls on my behalf
* Organising regional festivals either themselves or with an event coordinator
Matters of immigration or other topics for which there are elected or appointed officials of the region will not be within my focus. I will consult with the responsible officials if requested and provide input if I have any. But overall, I will be focussing on the Delegate's job, because it's already an extensive one.
So there it is. A new approach to the Delegacy. We can make it happen this time around. Vote for focus, Vote for MSPP, Vote for Louisistan!
Viva XKI! Viva TITO! Viva Grub! Viva Woonsocket!
Let's go!
