Ahh, here we are. Over a year later and after three terms as NRS Senator, I find myself vying for the Delegate position. Making a prayer to the Taco Gods, I draw my sword-
Wait, that’s not how this works? Laaaame.
Anyway, why have I taken on this arduous task for an even more arduous (but rewarding) job? Well quite simply, there are a lot of areas that I wish to improve or reinvigorate. I made some progress as NRS Senator, but there’s only so much one can do from there. The improvements I wish to make go beyond the Council. I’m also glad to see I have competition. An unchallenged Delegate race is detrimental to the region (even if the person elected does a good job) and I won’t let Louis win as easily as last time he ran.
First off, a little about myself and my time here in XKI:
- I joined TITO in October of 2016 and became a TITO Knight about 10 months later. Currently, I have 84 battle stars and have been decorated with several medals and awards. These include the Sword of TITO, the TITO Quick Reaction Force Combat Pin, and the Steadfast Badge.
- I ran against a three-term incumbent for New Republica South Senator and won by a hefty margin. I then served on the Council as NRS Senator for three terms of my own (one year IRL).
- I also served as Senior Senator in my third and final term.
- I proposed a group of three amendments to the XKI Constitution relating to appointment of officials (especially diplomats) and approval of them. These were then approved by public poll and Council vote. Read the amendments in the Constitution here
And the discussion in the Senate Lobby here - I have held the position of Pollster for almost a year.
- I am an emissary to both Wintreath and The Rejected Realms.
- I have been active across the forums and gameside and as such, I have seen many different sides of the Islands. From the spammers of Taco Island, to the frequent RMBers, to the politically active in the Senate Lobby- every corner of the Islands has their own vibrant culture.
As for my platform and plan as Delegate, I offer this to you (this got a little lengthy so I inserted some TL;DRs as a summary, but please read the entire platform!):
Openness and Friendship.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}From my experience, XKI has always seemed rather separate from the larger NS Community. I wish to bring us closer to the community by actively looking for new embassies to open and new friendships to establish. I will also consider support for treaties with some of our stronger friends. In addition, the last few festivals XKI has been involved in have gone resoundingly well. I will push for more of these interregional festivities and seek organizers to collaborate with host partners to make the festivals as great as they can be. I also want to finally establishing a regional thread on the NSGP forum for us to post updates and event announcements in. This improves our visibility and connection with the wider NS community.
TL;DR: new embassies, support for treaties, more interregional festivals, regional NSGP thread
Rebuilding and reinvigorating.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Over the course of the last Delegate term, we have seen a drop-off in use of the pinned WFE dispatch to alert gameside Islanders to WA discussion threads on the forums. Recently, the dispatch has disappeared altogether. I would be restarting that practice and keeping it updated. I also seem to have a memory of the Emissary Report being a pinned dispatch on the WFE as well. I would resume this as well to keep gameside Islanders and others who visit the region page updated on Islands affairs.
TL;DR: WA discussion threads and Emissary Reports in WFE
Nation retention and gameside beautification.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}One thing I have noticed about other regions, especially GCRs, is that many have an organized WA program that promotes endorsement of the delegate and fellow WA nations in the region. While we may not be able to structure together something as detailed as, say, Europeia’s (they have censuses and graphs for everything imaginable), we can get a basic program up and running that can be improved upon if need be. I would also like to begin a full-scale project to create a proper Information Center for onsite nations. This also takes inspiration from other regions such as TSP that have a more structured and in-depth welcome guide/index to peruse.
TL;DR: organized WA endorsement program, full-scale Information Center gameside
Reevaluation of bans.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}I was an ardent supporter of unbanning Benevolent Thomas, Guy, and Emoticonus/CoS. In addition I have called for an unbanning of noted defender and former RRA Commander Crazy Girl on the forums. After seeing how many bans have been maintained for years upon years or upheld unjustly, I wish to take action. I will be calling for a full Ban Audit by the Council to reevaluate every ban implemented. This of course does not mean I will necessarily be asking for any to be removed. It is a mere examination to see if certain bans are worth keeping in place.
TL;DR: Ban Audit to reexamine bans, especially ones done for trivial reasons
Transparency.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}I am making a commitment to transparency as Delegate. Anything I propose in the Council I will post publicly in the Senate Lobby, unless the issue is of regional security. In addition, anything I post in the Council Chambers about a proposal that has already been made public will be posted in the respective Senate Lobby thread. I encourage others in the Council to do the same.
TL;DR: I’ll post my own thoughts to Council issues publicly.
Continuing what works.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}I will endorse all current and new WA members and message them asking for a return endorsement. I will also interact on the RMB frequently, as I have done for much of my time in the Islands. I will have an office for any problems, requests, and rants anyone wishes to bother engage me with. In addition, I will maintain the Delegate’s Inbox, posting all WA and other campaign telegrams publicly. Any mass-telegramming of the Islands without permission from me would be met with an immediate against vote and counter-campaigning as consequences. Mass-telegrams of my own will be sent when needed for events and whatnot, but any normal updates will be contained in the Emissary Report dispatch in the WFE.
TL;DR: Better to just read this one, I think.
