I intend to use this thread to talk about upcoming Casino games.
In late August - early September of this year, we have the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. For this event, the Casino intends to run the following games:
-Pot betting: entrants pay an entry fee into a betting pot, are asked a question (e.g. "Who will win the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup?"), and all entrants answer the question. Entrants who answer correctly divide up the pot among themselves.
-The Gauntlet: Entrants pay an entry fee, and choose a period of the tournament (e.g. First group stage, second group stage, knockout round). On each round, entrants will have to name a team. If their team wins that round's game, their score doubles. If they lose, their score is set to 0. Sounds easy, right?
There's just one catch: entrants may not name the same team twice.
Entrants who are less confident may pay a penalty (depending on the length of the period they have chosen) to "chicken out," collecting a fraction of their score instead of potentially losing it all.
We intend to run these games to see if they have promise for the future. Hopefully, The Gauntlet will prove to be a fixture through all knockout-type tournaments, and possibly some sports leagues where all teams play one or two games per week or so.
