The Senate's first order of business is to elect a speaker, and for members to betray their fellow party members by switching party.

Mayoral Decree of Orders to Elect a Speaker of the Senate and a Speaker of Parliament

The term "House" shall apply to Parliament and Senate separately.

(1) The Mayor shall preside over the election of both Speakers.

(2)
(a) If the Speaker who has served during the preceeding session is returned to the House, The Mayor will ascertain whether that member is willing to serve as Speaker again. If that is the case a member will move that the Speaker of the preceeding session return as speaker.
(b) The Mayor will put the question without debate.
(c) If a division is required, it will be carried out not by forum vote, but by posting in a division thread.
(d) The Speaker is elected if the motion carries.
(e) Before taking office, the Speaker Elect must resign from the Cabinet or as Leader of the Opposition if they hold such an office.
(f) An acting Speaker will not be considered for a motion under Order 2a.

(3)
(a) If the Speaker of the preceeding session is not returned to the House or if the motion for them to return as Speaker is defeated, the Mayor shall ask the members to nominate members of the House for Speaker.
(b) Nominations will be dealt with in the order in which they are brought forth under the process set out in Order 4.
(c) Once a Speaker is selected in accordance with Order 4c, no further nominations will be considered or voted upon.

(4)
(a) If a nomination is made, the nomination will be considered a motion and the Mayor will put the question that the nominated member become Speaker.
(b) If a division is required, it will be carried out not by forum vote, but by posting in a division thread.
(c) A Speaker is elected if the motion carries.
(d) Before taking office, the Speaker Elect must resign from the Cabinet or as Leader of the Opposition if they hold such an office.

(5) If a House fails to elect a Speaker within three months of the start of the session, the Mayor shall appoint an Acting Speaker so that the House can get on with it.

Order. I wish to make a statement to the Senate at this point. Sadly, upon leaving the Senate Chamber this morning, Twobagger was hit by a 2 metre large concrete scrotum. Apparently, it had dislodged from a statue of Mayor Twobagger because it had been rotting from the inside out. Who knew?


Anyway, the Senator has passed on to another place. Probably one full of birdshit.
