Resistance Olympics Version - Game Thread

Welcome Mystery gang! Are you ready to solve a mystery?

For this game, we have 3 Spies and 6 Resistance and you all have received PM's about your randomly assigned role from me. If you have role related questions, ask them in that PM. If you're confused about rules, refer to the video posted in the signup thread or ask it here for clarification.

Each mission has a set number of players required to go on that mission and a required amount of fail votes to result in mission failure:

Mission 1: 3 players, 1 vote to fail
Mission 2: 4 players, 1 vote to fail
Mission 3: 4 players, 1 vote to fail
Mission 4: 5 players, 2 votes to fail
Mission 5: 5 players, 1 vote to fail

As described in signups, there will be a team leader for each proposed team. If the team gets rejected, we will move on to the next team leader until a team is accepted.

General reminders / rules:

-No outside messaging of other players and please don't discuss the game outside of this thread

-Editing posts is allowed, but remember it will be seen as highly suspicious

-Resistance members must vote for mission success in Phase 2, Spies can vote either way

-If a team at any point cannot be agree upon after 5 votes, the Spies win

-Phase 1 votes will be cast publically and need a simple majority, Phase 2 votes are cast privately and only need 1 (or 2 for Mission 4) Failure votes to fail.

-There are no set timings for rounds, each round lasts as long as it takes you all to decide on a team and then vote for mission fail or success

Good news! Musketoon , Control , and Tuga Nation's Dragon successfully sleuthed their way into the XKI Casino to investigate and the mission was a smashing success! They found some suspicious residue that might point to how the Ghost disappeared and are one step closer to solving the mystery! That is one point to the Resistance members.

Kingdom of Amabanana , you're up! You can have a team of 4 for Mission 2.

This makes no sense... We had a team that successfully accomplished our mission, and then you select a totally different one... This is a strange tactic, it seems you want this mission to fail, so...

Just because the first team accomplished their mission, doesn't mean they're resistance, since spies can vote either way. Tuga Nation's Dragon, your argument that we should blindly trust the first team to complete a second mission, just because they completed the first, doesn't really make a lot of sense. Couple that with your accusation that Amabanana would "want the mission to fail", it seems like your post was just an attempt to deflect suspicion from possible spies in the first team.

That being said, I do see the argument that we should keep trying to gather data on the first team, to determine whether or not they're spies, rather than choosing a completely new team. Of course, data can also be gathered through debate. I'll abstain from voting for now.

I can’t see a reason to reject a team of people we know nothing about. In fact, we don’t know anything on two-thirds of the people here, which is a lack of information which could be catastrophic for our Resistance cause.

Therefore, I vote yes to this team.

what you said is also true, of course... If there was a spy on the first mission, we should try to narrow down and try to make sure about it... I know nothing about the proposed team and at least there is a possibility of having no spies at all in the first one as it was a successful one... I know I'm not a spy, but you cannot be certain of that, of course... But personally, it will also help me a lot to narrow down the roles of my 1st mission comrades...

I'm inclined to agree with your reasoning here. The singular data points that we currently have on each of the members of the first isn't enough to determine a trend that'll allow us to guess their roles. At least not that I can see. So, I'm going to agree with Tuga and Vote: No for this team. We ought to include at least a few members of the first team for the second mission. Though I may change my vote if someone can present a good argument for this team. Perhaps Kingdom of Amabanana ?

Another argument can be made like this... Kingdom of Amabanana is a spy, if they select the same team as the first mission and it fails, it would turn the attention to them... By selecting a totally different team, Kingdom of Amabanana avoids this scenario...

I'm not saying this is the case, I have no reason to suspect Kingdom of Amabanana or anyone else, really... I just think the 2nd team should be somehow based on the 1st one, considering it was a successful one...

Honestly, I've never played this game before, so I don't really know what I'm doing. I know that's not an excuse, but my reasoning was if the first team was all spies, we should try a new one just in case. But I see now that I should have used the team that went first, as they had already succeeded once.

all spies? That would be very unlikely... But there could be a spy between them, no one knows for sure right now...

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Teams must always be approved by a majority of players in Phase 1 voting, but Missions require only a single fail vote (or 2 fail votes for Mission 4) in order to be unsuccessful. Majorities do nothing for Missions, it's simply whether there has been a fail vote or not.

Could those of you voting yes (Marxist Germany , Thedairos , Flying Eagles ) explain your vote? I'm not really understanding your reasoning for accepting a totally new team that we have no information on.
