House Cup and Shield Competition October 2020

Dear Islanders,

it is my pleasure to announce the upcoming House Cup and Shield Competition which will take place from 1st October to 31st October!

I'd like to remind all house founders/ stewards to update their house roster, separating active members from CTE ones and marking accelerator eligible nations accordingly.

The following rules apply for accelerator eligibility:

1. You must be a WA Islander.

2. You must have a forum account for at least 2 months.

3. You must have made at least 10 posts in the forum.

Please notify me here in this thread when your roster is up to date.

You can apply here for an Accelerator Account if you don't have one yet (This is necessary if you'd like to participate).

The event will proceed as followed:

House Cup Plan:

• The competition will run for a period of one month. The competition will begin one month after the election of the Lyonesse East Senator. It is the LE Senator's responsibility to build awareness among house leaders and in house threads about the competition leading up to the starting date.
• During the week leading up to the starting date, the LE Senator will remind House leaders to update their rosters. CTE nations will be placed in a separate section, and WA nations should have (WA) placed next to their name.
• During the period of the competition, participating nations will utilize the Accelerator to contact new nations and recruit them to the Islands.
• The Accelerator calculates a monthly point total based on the recruiter's performance. At the end of the competition week, the LE Senator will access the Top Recruiters page of the Accelerator to determine the points accumulated by each participant. The LE Senator will then contact the Immigration Minister to receive the total for each recruiter of nations that came to XKI for the duration of the competition. The recruiter will earn twenty points for each successful recruit.
• The LE Senator will then add these points to a House Grand Total, each participant's points being added to their House's total. The House with the largest Grand Total wins the House Cup. The LE Senator will then calculate a per capita total based on the number of Accelerator-eligible nations in the House. The House with the largest per capita value wins the House Shield. These awards remain with the house until the next competition.
• In order to qualify for participation in the House Competition, the house rosters must be updated and reviewed by House Founders/stewards one day before the start of the Competition. Failure to do so will render the house ineligible to compete.

Additionally, the house of the nation that sends over 500 telegrams and ends up having the highest percentage recruitment success rate wins the House Sceptre, provided they are willing to share their telegram.

(Please note that unlike the House Cup and the House Shield, the House Sceptre does not qualify as a House Competition that is mandated by law under the current House Achievement Plan.)

You probably mean the Prolific Posting Contest, right? I'm sorry that the competition has never been officially concluded. While I can not guarantee that I will be able to announce the results because I wasn't here when the event took place, I will definitely try my best to investigate on that matter!

I highly doubt it would be possible to get results for the Prolific Posting Contest given the tools available to us. Resolving the House Cup and Shield is likely doable using the MoI posted report from that month.

Everyone in that contest could probably export all their posts to an Excel file and count the number of posts within the contest dates using the relevant post IDs, similar to the method used to claim mobile posts for tacos.

Fellow Islanders!

Since the Accelerator is currently offline for maintenance and the Beach Summer Recruiting Event is taking place and extending to September, the House Cup and Shield Competition will be postponed so that these two events don't overlap. The House Competition will instead be held in October where there will probably be more new nations joining NationStates again, which will make recruiting more fun and enjoyable for everyone.
This means that you still have time until 30th September to update your house roster.

The House Cup and Shield is reaching halftime, so here's a quick update on the recruiting situation:



We currently have 12 active recruiters; Escanaba is leading with a whooping 5640 telegrams, followed by Zaberaz Hapang , who has also already sent over 1000 telegrams.
Along with these two, Grea Kriopia and Thedairos have all sent over 500 telegrams and are eligible for the House Sceptre, while the other recruiters also show great potential! Keep it up, everyone!

You likely came looking for a game wherein you can create maps, lore, flags, and more with your customized nation. You’ll also find that we are home to the [b]Ten Thousand Islands Treaty Organization[/b] (TITO) - a renowned army all over the NationStates multiverse that defends innocent regions by standing up for them against their invaders. It has been our mission to do so for almost 20 years.

You can also spam away in Taco Island, a board found in our forum, or #taco-island-spam, a channel found in our discord server. In our forums and discord, we plan smaller events more flexibly, such as playing Among Us, watching movies together, and discussing real-life politics or in-character politics (which could also be done in [b][region]A Taco Archipelago[/region][/b]).

It’s also important to note, I definitely didn’t get the success rate from the TG alone. Some of the things I did could be done any time, while others could only be done during the competition.

1. GIF/Unique display flag — In the earlier parts of the competition, I had a vertical banner as a flag, and in the later parts of the competition, I had a GIF flag. This caught the attention of newbies, so they’d ask me things like “how did you make your flag?”. From there, I would eventually answer their questions, leading to most of them moving to XKI.

2. Longer waiting time on new nations — I had to wait 5-15 secs (depending on my mood mostly) on every newly founded nation page to see if they managed to answer an issue or two. If they did, they get skipped, because new nations wouldn’t answer that fast, meaning it’s likely a puppet.

3. Being picky — This kinda relied on the fact there were a ton of other people recruiting, so I didn’t have to worry too much about covering a lot of ground, and instead got to focus on my own success rate. I checked every customizable field (e.g. name, currency, etc.), and used my list of recurring inputs to detect what’s a puppet, and what’s not. Most puppet names are easy to detect (e.g. Lots of variations of Scotty, Python [insert number]), but you’d also have to check the motto, currency, and animal.
