Mayor Louisistan resigns in Yaughting Scandal

In a surprise announcement this morning, the Mayor's Office announced that Mayor Louisistan was resigning as Mayor of Shelter's Taco Island.

"Over the past few weeks, the TIPD and The Mad Surfer have conducted thorough investigation into the Mayor's private use of the official yacht. The Mayor has cooperated fully with the authorities. Alledgedly, the Mayor has neglected to use the official yacht for private business as he is required to do unter the Mayor's Private Yacht Act of 1955. During their investigations, Police were unable to find even one use of the yacht by the Mayor. The Mayor denies allegations that he doesn't have a boating license and denies even harder claims that he has sold the yacht to the Sultan of Gingbao". The Mayor's Office also stated that the reason why investigators and journalists were unable to locate the yacht was because "they were clearly very bad at their jobs" and that "it's sitting right there in the secret dock".

The statement goes on to explain that "since it has become apparent that TIPD is hellbent on raising charges against the glorious Mayor, he has no choice but to preempt them by resigning". The rest of the statment has some rather nasty comments about the police and the TMS journalists which should not be repeated in polite conversation.

The Chief Executive's Office says it has "acknowledged" the Mayor's resignation but refuses to comment on internal matters of Shelter's Taco Island.

Sources close to the Mayor claims that his ignorance of boating goes so far, he'd even misspell "yachting". The Mayor, whilst hiding in the basement bar with a tropical drink replied "no no, you must be reading this wrong, go away".

It has been a huge pleasure watching your antics through the years. The person who follows you as Mayor will follow a legend as witty and dedicated as Shelter himself. While it’s perfectly understandable for the next Mayor to feel nervous I would encourage whom ever the lucky person is to just be themselves and have fun with it.

That being said, can you not imagine the train wreck of hilarity and coup attempts, assassinations, revolts, plots, intrigue and utter nonsense that would arise under the bungling rule of King Mayor Tanz?
