It took me a lot longer to reach this milestone than I thought it would a decade ago, but such is life. It’s been quite the journey and I’ve met some really great people here along the way. I still remember my early days here, chatting with LB during minor update while we were both spamming as fast as we could. I remember discovering the WW game that Gunny was hosting, and while I was too late to join it, I still messaged him about who I thought the wolves were. I have very fond memories of Klington’s spam jam thread and the inebriated rants that BCS and I would post there. I remember the humor of Shelter and the tragedy of his passing. I can’t possibly thank everyone who has enriched my life via these forums, but I’m very grateful to have known Wordy and Eist and Klop and Louis. Excellent teachers when it comes to the art of defending. Hame has been equally amazing and I love reading some of the things that he says when he’s wasted. Woon and Grub, Ananke and Minna, Paff and Cerb: great examples of leadership and of dedication to the region. Escanaba is one of my biggest role models here, I hope to still be playing and contributing to the region when I’m as long in the tooth as he is. I think Tanz was barely a teenager back when I joined and I have enjoyed our back and forth battles. Vida and Thanya were amazingly funny, I still hope to see DSP and the smoking cat grace this place again. Hakke and Palman, Sweethaven, W&S and Hahiha make me the luckiest House founder ever. Without a doubt, the person I miss the most is Barry. He’s hands down the funniest person I’ve ever known and I loved his schtick.
So yeah, it’s been a crazy ride, but one that I have thoroughly enjoyed. This region and the people who make it great have really helped me keep my sanity when irl things were tearing me apart, so I thank you, all of you who have had such a positive impact on my life during the last ten and a half years.
It’s pretty late and I’m not feeling overly well at the moment, so my apologies to anyone I may have forgotten. I just wanted to reach this milestone on 12/3/21 because of the symmetry of the date. Wouldn’t it be more apropos if the word for palindromes was a palindrome itself?
Oh well, enough rambling. Thank you all once again and I’m looking forward to the next decade and the next 100k posts.
