Nation-states in the 10000 Islands:
Thank you for taking the time to visit my campaign HQ. This will primarily serve as a forum for you to pose questions for me. Other than that, allow me to give a brief history of myself and a couple of my goals as UN Delegate.
Summary of Qualifications
Background
The 10000 Islands has been my home since the earliest days of my foundation. I have resided here since late August of 2003, during the delegacy of the 10000 Islands very first delegate, Lyonesse. This makes me one of the oldest, if not the oldest, candidate for UN Delegate in terms of time spent here in the 10000 Islands. From those early days when this place had only 30-40 nations, I have watched this region expand and grow into a powerhouse, complete with a constitution and Council of Nine.
I had a great desire to get involved in the new government, so I launched a campaign for senator. In this campaign, I tried to be the spokesman for the rights of neutrality, sovereignty, and non-UN nations. My platform failed to resonate with voters, although I did receive the endorsement of Parthini, Fleeb, Perugio, and other influential 10000 Islanders. Unlike the other 3 elections, my election was competitive and the closest of them all, but I lost 21-11 in the end to Nulibert.
Losing taught me a lot. I had not expected to win, but knew that the experience alone would help me. If anything, I had made influential contacts and friendships that may help me in the future. I threw away the veil of neutrality and joined TITO, earning 5 battle stars and the 5 star ribbon, to see these alliances grow.
Although I had sworn off running for Senate again, this opportunity to become UN Delegate intrigued me, mostly because of the ideas I had...
Positions
1. As UN Delegate, I would like to oversee the growth of our ambassadorial program so that all influential NationStates regions have an ambassador from the 10000 Islands. I would like to use our ambassadors fully, to increase communication between our region and others. Being an ambassador would be a full-time job, with more responsibilites and more supervision.
2. As UN Delegate, through my expanded ambassadorial program, I would like to coordinate our votes in the UN with that of other large regions. In other words, I would try to persuade and convince other regions to vote as we do, since many large regions share the same interests. I would continue to poll the people of the 10000 Islands, as Parthini does, to gauge support at home, and always adhere to their views. Still, I remember a series of losses on UN resolutions--all of which the 10000 Islands opposed, but were passed as law--that made me withdraw my membership at one point. I'd like for this not to happen again, and I believe it can be avoided through regional cooperation.
3. As UN Delegate, I would follow in the footsteps of Parthini and serve a limited term as well, perhaps until sometime in early fall.
That's plenty for now. Again, I encourage any questions you have for me.
