I believe that the 10000 Islands strength lies in it's ability to gather information. We already have strength in numbers, but without the information to properly deploy said numbers, we may not be victorious at all times.
I believe that the 10000 Islands should have as many ambassadors as we are able. I believe that alliances, with regions that alliances make sense, will only strengthen our region and our regional security.
I beg to dream and differ from their hollow lies. This is the dawning of the rest of our lives.

I think that while it's all fine and good to build more alliances etc, it can get to a point where it gets quite hard to control and keep track of.
I dont believe we really need "scouts" as such, we've got informal alliances with alot of the defender groups anyway. I think it would be a better thing if we just sent out our regular ambassadors to _talk_ to the region(s) concerned, and obviously there would be a process internally here whereby the alliance would be solidified. I too believe that Alliances can be beneficial to national security, allowing for the flow of intelligence between regions, but can also be a detriment if we Ally with the wrong people. I believe it is necessary to not only solidify and maintain existing alliances and relationships, but to also fully research any new regions which could be prospective for us to Ally with.
Ambassadors are always a good thing. Ambassadors, of course, help to build, maintain and solidify relationships with other regions. I'm sure there are quite a few regions where there is currently no ambassador from this region, so more ambassadors are always needed.
It is critical for us to maintain a good appearance to the rest of the NS world. Unless we maintain a good reputation, and a good rappore with other defender regions, we would not be able to call on their services later, should we need assistance. Of course, we should offer no less to them

I actually believe foreign affairs is a neccessary ingredient for 10000 Islands at this point. We are too big and too great of a region to keep to ourselves. As you know well, we have communications with other defending groups - which is fabulous. In addition to that, it would be excellent to see more interaction with other regions in NationStates; whether by alliances, treaties, ambassadors or just friendly contact (even nation to nation). However, no alliances or treaties would be made lightly, each region would have to go through all the neccessary "red tape". This is my stance on international affairs.
It would be great to see the current ambassadors from other regions more active on our forums. I have talked to several on their own threads and have seen a few posts in Taco Island by them. It is always fun and beneficial to establish personal contact with each ambassador and get to know them a little more. As for more international contact, it could be a possibility to send out scouts to other potential regions (maybe honest puppets, so TITO would still be fully operational, without scattering) and establish friendly consistent relations with other regions, that would help out here and there - without having to sign onto any alliances. This is the answer to your second question, TSNA.
The reason I am a bit particular about alliances is because 1) we'd have to stick to our word... an honor code, if you will 2) an alliance requires a lot of trust 3) we're a little too big to be invaded and 4) we have the help of other defending organizations if needed. Alliances don't always have to be signed contracts, but good relationships with others to keep things safe and fun for the regions involved.

I believe that we should reach out to foreign regions, not only defenders but the influential neutrals. This is not only for defence, but overall friendship.
I'd especially like to see us sending an Ambassador to the ADN and maybe formally allying with them. We'd be allied, but not a member.
I want to send Ambassadors to the Meritocracy, Europe and all the feeder regions bar the Pacific.

yes of course we need to gather information, so that we can better combat invaders, and we need to formulate alliances so that we can upon members of other nations to help with invassions when we are busy, asleep, or getting laid

Ambassadors... formal alliances are a sticky situation. I agree that we need good relations with other large regions in NationStates. The forging of goodwill is paramount. However, I'm unsure we should just start endorsing and allying with everyone because we are "untouchable". We should pick and choose, carefully, for the good of the region and TITO.
Good, sanctioned, one-on-one relations are irreplaceable between nations and regions, and why I feel scouts are a more important matter. If we are talking about possibly increasing scout activity, I'm all for it. Honestly, in my short tenure as Ambassador, I can say that one-on-one interaction between nations within the ambassadorship is valuable for 10000 Islands. Talking is the key, no matter the vehicle or guise, especially with our friends out there.
There's all kinds of information out there, and goodwill to be had all around. We are a friendly region, and we should share our good experience. Ambassadorship is good, we just need to be careful not to send and hand it out indiscriminately.

I believe we should send many ammbassadors to other freindly regions, and there are some regions that are excluded now that I think should be included like The North Pacific, Nascouria, and The New Meritocracy.
