Panthenia to run for Senate

Yesterday at around 1pm GMT the United Socialist States of Panthenia declared its candidacy for one of the four positions of Senator.
Justin Alleyne, member of the Panthenic commitee announced. "I am pleased to announce that Panthenia will indeed be running for senator, our campaign will begin soon and we will be trying our best to persuade other UN Nations that we are the best nation for the job, although i would like to wish other candidates good luck in the race."

If Panthenia gets this valued position it will co-operate with the other three senators and not rush into any decisions except when necessary. It will always try and vote on what is right for the whole region; not just our nation. Panthenias campaign will begin next week when it, along with another 6 or so nations will attempt to show other UN nations and delegates why they should be Senator.

Justin Alleyne added. "We will begin our campaign slowly as nations tend to forget us if we rush. Panthenia will give 100% in this race and expect nothing in return. However, we hope that you will see us as a unique nation and one worthy of a place on the Senate.

Today was a big day in the history of Panthenia as they took a bigger step to the Senators position. A number of Panthenic Officials discussed the matter further.

"We in Panthenia are realists, always have been; always will be." Kelly Poulter announced. "despite this we believe that we are a very well-off region compared to others. In fact we (the 10000 Islands) are one of the most advanced of regions currently in NationStates. However, there are some areas we need to work on to become a bigger, better region. One that can defend not only ourselves against attack but others. Most notably our allies. We at Panthenia realise that this cannot be achieved overnight and we must be patient. The constitution recently released took a huge step towards this goal and WE aim to make this step even shorter."

This speech at 5pm today earmarked the desires of this progressive nation. Hopefully you will see us as the perfect match to one of the four positions on the Senate. No doubt we will hear more from this nation in the future as they aim to get your vote.

Eventhough the United Socialist States of Panthenia does not have the experience of some other nations running for senate that does not always matter. Every nation has to start somewhere. Whether that be Himes, New Parthini or even Grub we always learn as we go along and i feel it is time for my nation to take that step up from being a regular nation to being on the council of nine.

I realise that that step won't come by the click of a finger and we aim to work as hard as possible for this position. Firstly, we at Panthenia would like to inform you of our experience in NS overall:

-Quite Experienced, developing nation.
-TITO and longstanding UN-Member.
-Ambassador to the Trinity Republic.
-Very Active member of the 10000 Islands.

Although not the most experienced you've ever seen we are very determined to make a good job and Panthenia likes nothing more than a good challenge. That's what it's going to be as well...a challenge.

In the next few days more information about our aims as a future Senator will be put on this page and the finishing touches will be added before i will go round aiming to get your vote with my campaign, hopefully i will.

QUESTION=Do you believe that the 10000 Islands should become more involved in the NationStates world?

Again I will try to make this speech as short as possible and not go into a huge, rambling essay.

I feel that personally as a 10000 Islands member there is no reason to become more involved in the NationStates world at this moment in time however as we grow, things change and so do our alliances therefore we should become more involved when the (our) time is right. ie, when we have a strong, big backbone of a nation capable of defending itself and helping others whenever needs be.

Don't get me wrong we are close to that already as we have already suceeded in both the Urbanites and Romania but we are still a developing nation and the time is not yet right to become more involved. Becoming more involved straight away would seemingly be an invitation for trouble. As we all well know there are some regions and nations (naming no names) who simply were built for "World Domination" or "Troublemaking". If we became too involved these nations could take advantage of us and although they may be weak on the outside they could have secret allies. Although this is incredibly farfetched we cannot rule out this possibility and until we are 100% certain of defending ourselves to the max we shouldn't take ANY risks whatsoever.

As TheSensitiveNewAge said (good points by the way) we must be cautious and hang back for a while until the time is right. Despite this i feel that 10000 Islands plays quite an active role within the NS world and it's not as if we don't play a part at all. However, there is playing a part and playing a BIG part and we must not fall into the latter.
