Well, you've seen the picture so here's the story behind it...
It was Friday January 18th and my daughter didn't have school and we're basically fostering one of the little boys in her class for a week so here I was with two children and my sister in law didn't have to work because of a bomb threat at the World Bank so I thought we'd head on down to Washington DC and see the sights and museums and stuff.
So I got online and there was Nixon and he lives in DC so hey... we could hang out! I sent him a message... "meet me by the Washington Monument at 11 AM." He was all "I'll be there yo!"
So after coming down New York Avenue I somehow got put on Massachusetts Avenue and had to back track to 14th Street but it was fun because we got to drive by the world bank and all that Chaos and also see my old building where I used to work on 14th and New York. Yay!
So we finally arrived and the kids didn't bring hats so we stopped in the souvenir store and got them matching Washington DC caps to keep their ears and heads warm.
Apparently you have to get tickets to go up in the Washington Monument (or as my daughter likes to call it the "Pencil") so we got tickets and then waited and waited and waited for Nixon. Yes he was late.
So he finally shows up and we hanging out watching my daughter play with her friend, they brought bubbles and were chasing them around out in front of the monument, and get this... some lady comes by and starts taking pictures of them. It's okay though, you wouldn't recognize my daughter with the her hat on.
As it turns out... Nixon is actually a pretty decent guy! I'm shocked! No not really. We went up in the Monument and took some pictures of the city and the kids. My daughter took the picture of me and Nixon. Then we had lunch at the Ronald Reagan building and walked over to the Natural History Museum.
We got to see the Hope Diamond! Usually theres a line that stretches all the way around the museum just to see it so it was nice that there was nobody there.
Then we wandered around the dinosaurs and the gems and stuff.. oh and the bugs. My daughter was terrified of one of the exhibits and burst into tears at the sight of it. I never actually saw what she was so scared of!
All in all it was a fun day and we had a really good time.
I'm sure Nixon is going to post an entirely different story but that's because he sees things through rose colored glasses. He was a really good sport with the kids though. Thanks Nixon!!
