My impression is that there aren't that many parties that are actually active. Is this true?
If the answer is yes, I think we should make some changes around here, perhaps abandoning the five-member rule and so on, because in my opinion it's way more fun to have many small, active parties than a few big inactive ones.
I do believe that more people could find this part of the forum and enjoy it, it's just that we might need a few changes. I for one would love a big cleanup for example. Get rid of all those threads that doesn't really matter anymore, i think it's a bit of a mess over here.
Also I should ask... is there anyone out there that is interested in starting a new party?

Alfonia, I completely agree with you. And in answer to your questoin, yes I am interested. I am setting up a social democratic party again, and am about to lay down my platform.
However, I do not see how I could work in a social democratic party. While you may find we agree on some points, I'd think our opinions are very different.
some of my thoughts:
I do believe in compulsory military service (both men and women) and a strong police force, but I am very much for strict firearm control.
Regarding Cannabis, I believe it should be legal, but sold by a state run monopoly, the same goes for alcohol and tobacco, I think it's obvious that the users of these substances will have to pay for ALL the medical attention they may, and will need. + those who commit crimes related to these substances should be punished hard. I'd have nothing against public floggings of wife-beaters and drunk drivers.
Needless to say, I believe strongly in the equal rights of gay and straight people, men and women, and black and white people. This world belongs to us, not to a specific group of people.
Next to freedom, the most important thing for a country is to have a king or queen to look up to and respect. I have no great love for presidents, there are too many bad ones out there.
I believe tax is esentially the same as theft and icome tax should be at a very low, flat rate.
Regarding wars, neutrality is preferred.
About social democracy: Ever since the social democrats won the election in -94 my country has been run by them. I do not have any high thoughts about this party, as I have witnessed how my country has been spiralling downwards under their rule (though they're very much better than the greens and communists, however they co-operate with them here). Next election I will surely not vote for them, and I don't think I ever will.
Now, even if you and i probably disagree on these real-lifre issues, maybe we agree on what should be done in NS. Then working with you would be interesting, so I am still looking forward to seeing your platform.

Alright then, I wouldn't disagree with the majority of what you said, and I think it is much simpler here in this region, and also think that we could work together to shape a fine party.
I would be interested in forming a moderate political party. My basic beliefs align with Alf's with a few exceptions- I am not pro or anti monarchy, I am for SOME socialist policys like social security (or government pensions) and I believe in taxing (although not above 40%).

Great! Good! Go for it!
Promise me one thing though...stay active! I'm looking over the old index and it looks like half of the political parties have CTEd since my departure.

Well, not many people are active on this forum, I couldn't get my party off the ground. I've got the forum ready if you want to call by the same name, or I could change the board name.

so I'm back... been gone for a few days, and look! lots of posts in this thread.
I would be interested in starting a party, so perhaps those who are interested should get together and discuss if it would be possible to start a party sometime... uhm yeah.
