OMG! Look who has returned to political life! It's me!
So I am thinking of starting a new party. If you agree with me, you would perhaps want to join it? Please post here if you're interested...
The party is called the Democratic Monarchist Party, short: the DMP. It kind of resembles my old party (remember the RRP?) But it's a bit more liberal I think. I actually think it's better than the last one. If this party doesn't get support, I at least hope that someone gets good ideas when looking at this:
Opinions that directly affects our region:
Non-UN voting: Generally, non-UN nations should not have the right to vote, but, some UN-nations should be given the ability to do so. Mainly, this means older nations that have been active for at least a couple of months, and respected nations that are valued members of our region.
Our region needs a King or Queen. We need to elect a king or queen as soon as possible. The title will be purely ceremonial, but it is of great importance.
We need a parliament, the senate is not enough, and should be disbanded. The parliament will be open for everyone to see, but only members should be able to post there. Elections should be held two or three times a year. A party that got 30% of the votes in an election will get 30% of the seats in the parliament. Who the party wants to send to the parliament is for their party leader to decide. Voting for individuals within each party will not be possible. Also, there should be no 5-member limit for creating a political party.
Decision-making: A poll will be held in the parliament, and it will last for 24 hours, then it will be closed. If at least 50% of the parliament has voted, the result of the vote will be accepted. There will be 29 seats in the parliament (this number can be increased if needed).
Non-UN nations should be able to vote in the parliament elections, if they have been registered on the boards for two months or more, and have over 100 posts (that are not achieved through spamming). Non-UN nations with over 1000 posts can be elected and can get a seat in the parliament.
Of course our dear founder will be the Chairman (read: moderator) of the parliament.
All parliament members should have access to see and control all the departments, to guard the democratic rights of our citizens.
On bigger issues, a more direct form of democracy should be used. All UN-nations in our region should have the right to vote on big issues that affects us all (for example, yes/no to a possible monetary union or something like that).
For special services in our region, the parliament should be able to give a nation an honorary title, like “lord of the 10000 Islands”. The lords will be given the right to post in the parliament, even though they are not members. Only 1 title in 3 months can be given.
Some stuff regarding party membership and other party stuff:
Multiple party membership: It is not allowed to belong to another party when you’re in this one, but you may be granted the title passive member, that will give you the right to participate in discussions within the party, while belonging to another party. You will not get the right to vote on issues regarding the party though.
The party will be headed by a group of three: 1) The Chairman 2) The Vice Chairman 3) The Technical Manager. On all big decisions a vote will be held within the party, but on smaller issues, the Chairman can decide what position the party will represent for the moment. The Chairman has to approve of any big changes to this party’s platform or constitution before they have any effect. This group of three will be known as the chairman’s offices. The Chairman holds his/her position until he/she decides to quit, and the first Chairman will be Alfonia, founder of this party.
Under the chairman’s offices, part members will be organized into groups containing three members. Each one of these groups will have to elect a group spokesperson. This Group spokesperson will hold his/her position for a period of two weeks, the position will then be given to another member in the group. These groups will simply be known as party groups.
Members must live in the 10000 Islands.
Passive Members must live in the 10000 Islands or in a region where the 10000 Islands has an embassy.
Racism, gay-hating, muslim-hating etc. will not be tolerated.
General political beliefs:
Tight gun control is needed to ensure a safe society.
Countries like the USA and Switzerland (“gun-countries”) have astronomical murder rates when compared to nations like Sweden and the UK.
Sexual equality and the need for good sex education in schools:
Sex education should begin in the first grade in school; countries with good and early sex-education (Denmark, Sweden) have less teen pregnancies than countries that don’t (USA). Also, Men and women, homosexuals, bisexuals and heterosexuals should all have the same rights, get payed the same for the same job etc.
Anti racism, and freedom of speech and religion:
We dislike racism, racism is bad. Also it is very important that we have respect for each others ways and traditions, so Muslims, Christians, Jews, and Buddhists etc. can live together in a peaceful world. The freedom of speech and print is something very fundamental in a democracy; we need to defend that right.
Conscription:
Is the right way for a democracy to defend itself, even the ancient Greeks knew this. As do we.
Low taxes:
People should be able to spend their money in whatever way they wish. Income tax is almost robbery, and it should be kept down.
Death penalty:
I do not support the death penalty; however I understand why some people find it necessary. Execution by electrocution, lethal injection or gas chamber is totally inhumane and barbaric. If the death penalty has to be used, the methods I recommend are beheading or execution by firing squad, preferably beheading using a guillotine.
Everyone’s right to walk in the nature:
Everyone should have the right to walk in the forest, and as long as they do not destroy anything, the land owner can not tell them to leave. If the campers intend to camp in the forest for a period of more than 24 hours, they will have to ask the landowner though. (This system is in use in Sweden now, and it’s fantastic.)
A strong police force and military:
…Are needed to protect a nation’s independence and peace. Also, long prison sentences are needed to deter criminals.
State monopoly on certain wares:
The state should have a monopoly on selling alcoholic beverages (over 5%vol), and should also have a monopoly on selling cannabis and prostitution (if that’s legal in your country, I don’t believe cannabis should be legal though.) Citizens should not be allowed to take much of these wares with them when they’re returning from a trip abroad.
I could continue forever…
