Thought I'd begin a thread where UPP members might express some of their current ideas that might develop here in the region aimed at improving participation and the forum. I've always been a stickler for basic organisation, feeling that forum fluidity makes it easier to navigate for newcomers-and yet there is much political dissent from this theory-many islanders feel that hunting through dusty ole threads is part of the fun- and maybe there's something to that too...I've heard it suggested that the hospitality program might use some rehab..ideas anyone?

Yeah. I find regular record updates help a lot. Not that many people go into the Regional Reserve, but i still like to make sure the rich list is done every two weeks.

The amount of reform that can be done with regards to immigration and involvement of newer nations is enormous. I've seen numerous nations leave the region because they felt that there was a "free-for-all" sentiment once they reached the boards and that they were left fending for themselves. We need to implement the XKI Buddy System as a madatory item for all new nations to be apart of with the recruiting nation responsible for being a liaison between the region and the new nation. It's time for some accountability for a change.

Indeed, although i believe what we need is a great collaboration between IMM and Education. Now that Minn is Education Minister we can work on this relationship (as she is both a competent minister and excellent Recruiter herself)

I wrote up a list of whose been welcoming the new nations in the 10000 islands board. Perhaps there could be some government accountability, like Senators being assigned to the job or appointing assistants to welcome in their stead? A format questionaire sent to new nations might be created as well; that would promote their reception and involvement? Like; Hello ' Nation name'. I'm Senator so and so and would personally like to welcome you to XKI and our forum. If you have any questions please don't hesistate to write to me either through telegram or forum private post. There are many fun ways your nation can choose to participate in our forum; you can look at the job opportunities board, volunteer to help out in the State Dept by writing our UN Delegate, join a political party, apply for membership to the Assembly of Nations, or take classes in our University; XKI's town hall. There's role playing and taco island too, what do you think? Have you visited any of those places so far? Do you have any recommendations how our forum might be improved? You might find helpful The following list of contact addresses; Founder (pm link) for applying to TITO Delegate " " " " State Dept. Senators for general info and leadership Ministers for specific help with departments Mayor for taco Island Speaker for AoN etc etc etc..

As part of my ongoing moan about senators often doing very little but sit on their senate seats and shine their senate badges (present company excluded of course) I could easily get behind this too. I think it's a great idea. Often i find people lose interest because people aren't actively involving them. The best way to keep someone interested is to send them TGs and PMs. God knows that's half the reason i still show up every day. Over 1,800 messages in the inbox so far....

The other hospitality idea I had was simply to open a new thread called newcomers round table where recruits can mingle with older players, have a drink and socialize..

Thanks Sinn! *blushes* I'm sorry I haven't been logging in here as often as I should. But I agree we do need a collaboration between IMM and EDU especially now since the goals of EDU have changed.
What I've done in the Department of EDU is created a thread for myself to list the new nations I've sent welcome TG's to and the ones that join the forum I've starred.
I welcome the help if anyone is interested I'm happy to add you to the EDU department and send you the password. I can't be on all the time and I've got a couple sample letters in there that you can use to send to new nations arriving.
So far since August 16th I've welcomed to the 10K 41 new nations and 6 of them have registered on the forum.
I really want the number of nations registering on the forum to increase. But I'm not sure how to go about doing that... and the 41 new nations is also battling against CTE'd nations that we lose everyday.
If anyone has any ideas how to keep them I'd love to hear it. SP already had a great idea with sending his own welcome tg to his nations he recruits to tide them over until I can send them an official welcome from the Ministry of EDU.
Thanks! Minn
