My brothers and sisters of the 10,000 Islands!
I have felt for some time that a change was in order in my country. My people were disillusioned, they felt the government was too distant, something that they couldn't identify with. My people, like a weary akhalteke pressing on towards its goal in the depths of the Blacksand desert, needed an oasis to revive their flagging spirits. As a result of this, they have endorsed this proposal mooted by the Mejlis in a referendum to crown me Akbar Sultan Türkmenbashy, with a 99.99% vote. I am the most humble person in the world, but I must bow to my people's wishes. My coronation ceremony will therefore held at 9:00 tomorrow, and all of you, being my allies and friends working together for the security of our great Commonwealth, are invited to the proceedings as guests of honour. Punch and pie.
I look forward to seeing all of you there.
Best wishes,
S.T. (Soon to be Akbar Sultan Türkmenbashy Saparmurat I)

Worship the potato? The idea seemed silly to me. But then I thought, what else is more deserving of worship? It's simple, it comes from the earth, and it can kill you if you disobey it.

I must most humbly thank all of you for your gracious participation. You and/or your envoys will be given the red carpet treatment the moment you/they step on Türkmenian soil. It will be a day to remember, and I am delighted others can share my joy at this wonderful occasion. As a token of gratitude, I hereby decree that all immigration restrictions applying to citizens of the 10000 Islands are hereby waived forevermore. The Order of the Morning Star First Class will also be granted to all leaders of the 10000 Islands. I look forward to working even more closely with the rest of you in ensuring the prosperity, stability and security of the 10000 Islands.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go and raid my wardrobe for something nice to wear tomorrow.

I thank you for your presence, Your Excellency, and I wish to extend to you and your delegation the very best of Türkmenian hospitality, as befits a steadfast and true friend of Türkmenbashy.
Türkmenbashy's best breeders have petitioned me for a meeting with you to present you with a token of their appreciation for your custom, and if it meets with your approval, I will swiftly see to it that it is arranged. I am extremely happy that our trade prospects are bright, and I hope that both our nations will be able to benefit from increased trade and exchange. Perhaps after the ceremony and after you have had time to enjoy what delights my humble land has to offer, perhaps we can enter into negotiations regarding a possible free trade area between our nations?

Dynch Gyun, 1st Baidag, 2004. A new day has dawned. It s a very special day in the history of Türkmenbashy as today, the people will crown their first Sultan in over three hundred years. Türkmenbashy has pulled out all the stops, with massive renovations of the capital, Ashg-Türkmenbashyabat, and the building of a new international airport. There have also been new issues of Manat notes and coins and postage stamps.
Protocol officers have been posted throughout the night at the new Gorbansoltan-eje International Airport to welcome the many foreign dignitaries who have graciously chosen to attend today's festivities, and to escort them to their specially appointed apartments to get whatever sleep they can before the big day.
At 7:30, black limousines ferried them to the specially constructed royal pavilion adjacent to the newly built coronation dais in the heart of Ashg-Türkmenbashyabat, Halkrukh Square. They are greeted by the sight of a multitude of Türkmenians of all tribes, who have stood in the freezing ice and snow since the crack of dawn or before.
As they take their seats, a blaring fanfare is sounded by a thousand trumpeters. Turning their attention to the big projection screen erected overnight, they are greeted by the sight of a massive parade, with contingents from each of the five Türkmenian tribes, the Türkmenian Army and Navy's crack troops, and a special foreign contingent, that of the Parthinians, mounted on their newly purchased akhaltekes. The whole procession is led by a man in dazzling Türkmen robes astride a silvery akhalteke, Saparmurat Türkmenbashy himself. Beneath the flowing robes is a crisp white uniform, where among the many medals, the Islas Norte Battle Cross occupies pride of place. The parade makes its way down Türkmenbashy Boulevard and finally reaches the Square, greeted by a rapturous crowd.
Saparmurat reaches the foot of the dais and dismounts, followed by each of the Türkmenian Chiefs and the High Shaman of Türkmenbashy. The whole party ascends the dais, with the Chiefs sitting on the piled carpets on either side of the golden throne. The High Shaman gestures to the Chamberlain, who then brings him a sabre and a bejewelled shepherd's staff. He presents the sabre to Saparmurat, saying
'As your duty commands, wield this, Sultan Maghtumkhuli's sabre, in defense of this nation and of the 10000 Islands.'
Saparmurat receives it with his right hand as he pledges
'May this sword never be dishonoured by my actions and may my people and my Commonwealth's people be ever safe from invasion, oppression and destruction'
The shaman then presents him with the staff saying
'As your duty commands, shepherd your people in time of peace, and be ever provident, compassionate and vigilant.'
Saparmurat then grasps the staff with his left hand, pledging
'I am the great shepherd of the Türkmenian people, I am the noble stallion of the akhalteke. I will lead my people to glory until I draw my last breath.'
The Shaman then motions for Saparmurat to sit upon the throne. Saparmurat does so. The shaman announces
'Do you promise to fulfil your duties as you have pledged upon your life?'
'I do'
Out of a golden box the Shaman then retrieves a flowing silk Türkmenian headpiece surmounted by a golden tiara. Placing it on Saparmurat's head, he proclaims to the expectant masses
'By the power invested in me by the spirits and by the people and by the Mejlis, I now crown you AKBAR SULTAN TURKMENBASHY SAPARMURAT I, NOBLE STALLION OF THE AKHALTEKE, PROTECTOR OF THE REALM, BRINGER OF JOY AND SAVIOUR OF THE TÜRKMENIAN PEOPLE!'
At this the whole square erupts in loud cheering. Many are in tears of joy. Then as one, they start shouting 'Our King live forever!' Akbar Sultan Türkmenbashy Saparmurat I then takes to the front of the dais and proclaims
CORONATION ADDRESS OF SAPARMURAT I
'Majesties, Highnesses, Excellencies, noble chieftains, and my beloved Türkmenian people! Today I stand before you, proud to have accepted this great responsibility. I thank you, my neighbours, for sharing in my moment of great joy. I thank you, my people, for trusting in me to lead the nation to greater glory. Türkmenistan will in time join the ranks of the greatest nations in the world! We must modernise or perish. I will do my duty, but you must help me do it, great nation of Türkmenbashy.
I would also at this time wish to reaffirm my commitment to TITO and the 10000 Islands. You have welcomed me warmly and for that I can never be thankful enough. I pledge to do all I can to uphold the principles of cooperation and collective security upon which our Commonwealth rests. Your Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies will always find a willing and glad ally in Türkmenbashy.
Thank you, and may the spirit of our great nation protect me.'
As he steps off the dais to remount his steed, a cannonade is fired from the ancient fortress of Ashg-Türkmenbashyabat, a full 21 cannon salute. In response to this, a few joyous citizens wielding AK47s fire rounds into the air but are restrained by riot police. Fighter jets scream above the square leaving trails of multicoloured smoke. The foreign dignitaries climb back into their limousines and are driven to the banquet hall, where Akbar Sultan Türkmenbashy Saparmurat I will arrive in a few minutes time. Then the festivities will really begin.
