After a week of voting, I am pleased to announce the winner of February 2015 Poet Laureate Contest. With both the best single poem and the most summed votes per poet, the winner is Klopstock! Here are his two haiku:

Ten thousand drinks, please!
To Grub, TITO, and the Isles:
Defenders of peace.

The nation that raids
Robs a region of its peace
And a good night’s sleep

The former poem, with 7 votes, took the competition by storm. Congrats Klopstock! Thank you as well to each and every nation that submitted an entry!

The Poet Laureate contest will be back in June, so keep up the creativity, Islanders!

Thank you for running such an efficient and enjoyable contest, Paffnia! Haiku certainly proved a challenge.

Fate can be a fickle friend. I'm only too aware that while one of my submissions did well, the other didn't. To me that's a subtle reminder. Good poetry is not about the poet - it is about the poems. I may be poet laureate for four months, but good poetry, true poetry, rewards us all. And it's open to everyone.

I'd like to thank the Ministry of Labor for its labors and the competitors for helping to make a strong competition. Also, on the day of our elimination from the War of the Houses, I'm pleased to bring the poet laureate prize back with me to the halls of the Most Noble House of Ananke II.

And while I don't keep score, I can't help but smile at being a poet laureate of both 10000 Islands and the FRA.
