Free Guns For All Card Pull Event
As some of you may have noticed, the Cultural Office has recently started a small card farming operation run by myself and Dorab . This is not 10000 Islands' first venture into trading cards as we've had a Discord channel dedicated to the subject for some time. However, this is the first coordinated effort to gather cards on behalf of the region.
Today, I'm announcing a new kind of event that will help celebrate 10000 Islands' regional history and culture while also helping more people get involved in the trading cards game. It's called the Free Guns For All Card Pull Event.
Season 1 of NS Trading Cards was released in early 2018. At that time, Free Guns For All (also known as "Gunny") was an active contributor in 10000 Islands. Gunny was an active contributor here having worked on a novel about 10000 Islands, surpassed 20000 forum posts, served as a Buddy for many nations (including me!), served as a Senator, and most importantly having been a good friend to many of us. Sadly, everyone's favorite gun nut CTE'd shortly after Season 1 of NS Trading Cards was released. However his trading card remains and there are a limited set of copies!
Gaining cards of nations who are currently "CTE" is difficult because new cards of CTE nations are not created except when one of those cards is currently at auction. Thanks to a generous donation from rom we have obtained one of those copies. As a way to incentivize regional engagement with the cards sub-game, and to spread the Gunny around because we all need a little more Gunny in our lives, we will be hosting a Card Pull Event for Gunny.
During the event, if you open a pack of trading cards you have a chance to pull Gunny's card. If you do so, you'll be able to add it to your collection and be one of the few people to have this very special card! Auctions last for one hour and the event will run from 9 PM to 10 PM Eastern Time on Friday February 28. Gunny card drops are not guaranteed, but hopefully one or two more Gunny-s can enter circulation as a result of this auction. Even if you don't pull a Gunny, card farming and Pull Events can be a lot of fun and you'll still pull lots of other cards you can collect or sell for Bank to buy other cards you want.
If that time doesn't work for you, don't worry! This will not be the last Card Pull Event we do and I will try to run future events at varying times that way everyone gets a turn.
That's the core information. The rest of this post is dedicated to a brief how-to guide for card farming and pull events.
So... how do I card farm?
Great question! Card farming is when you create a series of puppet nations on NS (extra non-WA nations outside of your main nation) for the primary purpose of answering issues to obtain trading cards. Each time you answer an issue, there is a 20% chance of receiving a pack of "Trading Cards". Each pack contains 5 random cards. You can see card packs you've pulled by either scrolling to the bottom of the page after you answer an issue or going to this page.
After you create a series of puppets, go through every day (or more rarely, whatever you're wanting to do) and answer all of the issues on the puppet. Which answer you pick is not important for whether you receive a pack, so you can either answer at random or answer deliberately.
You can either open packs as you receive them or you can wait to open them. All packs opened during the Card Pull Event have a chance to receive a Gunny card even if the issue you answered to earn the pack was NOT answered during the window. Due to this, I recommend going through for the several days before the Pull Event and answering issues WITHOUT opening packs, that way you can open ALL of your packs DURING the event.
How many card farms should you have? Well, however many you want. I run 50 of behalf of the Cultural Office but I don't go through them all every day. If you're not sure how "into" trading cards you'll be, I'd recommend starting with 5-10 and expanding as your interest grows.
If you have any other questions about trading cards, The North Pacific's Card Guild created a pretty good guide to trading cards that I recommend you check out located here: www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1301085
Alright, thanks for reading. I'll hope to see lots of people opening packs during our Pull Event!

Edit: I have been informed that apparently there is a low (10% of normal) chance of pulling CTE cards even when they are not at auction after a recent cards change. There is still an elevated (10 fold increased) chance of pulling when not at auction.
