I want to make a special post about the 9-0 passage of NS 275-2: Senate Vacancies Act: 10000islands.proboards.com/thread/35801/275-senate-vacancies-act-passed. I authored the proposal and voted FOR because it clears up a longstanding issue in XKI election law and also ends the old practice of senate appointments that often lasted over 3.5 months, which are quite undemocratic: 10000islands.proboards.com/post/1631064/thread. I think its a simple, fair, and flexible bill. I call attention to it because I've actually been working on it since, amazingly, 2013. It garnered a disproportionate share of rather heated opposition when I raised it the first few times, and it never got a vote. This past acrimony is why I did not post the draft in the Council Lobby, but the unanimous Council vote heartens me. Overall, while a long road, I am happy to see this finally pass. A huge thanks to everyone who has supported iterations of this bill past and present.
